Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 18, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Hobbsless ("Hobbsless", "we", "us", or "our") collects when you use our website, mobile apps, and vibration-sensing hardware (together, the "Service"), and how we use, share, and protect that information. By using the Service, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you provide directly, information generated by your use of the Service, and information from the Hobbsless sensor hardware.
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address, password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), and any profile details you choose to add, such as your name or location.
Equipment and flight data
To power your maintenance logbook, we store the equipment you add (engines, wings, harnesses, reserves, carabiners and their manufacturer/model/serial details), your flight logs, and your service and maintenance records, including any notes, costs, and parts you record.
Sensor and device data
If you use a Hobbsless sensor, we collect vibration-derived engine runtime data, session timestamps, and the device's pairing identifiers so we can attribute logged engine hours to the correct piece of equipment. Sessions may be buffered on the device and synced later if you were out of connectivity when they occurred.
Usage and device information
Like most web services, we automatically log standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, device type, and pages visited, to help us secure and improve the Service.
2. How we use your information
- Operate the Service, including calculating engine hours and maintenance status, and generating reminders.
- Communicate with you, including account, security, and maintenance-reminder emails, and responses to support requests.
- Process payments and manage subscriptions for Pro and Teams plans.
- Generate maintenance and service history reports that you choose to export.
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and security incidents.
- Improve and develop the Service, including understanding how features are used.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers. We use third parties to help operate the Service, including cloud hosting and database storage (Amazon Web Services, MongoDB), transactional email delivery (Amazon SES), payment processing (Stripe), and bot/spam protection on our forms (Google reCAPTCHA). These providers only receive the information needed to perform their function.
- Team accounts. If you are a member of a Pro Teams account, the account owner and other authorized team members can see equipment and maintenance data associated with that team.
- Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Hobbsless, our users, or others.
- Business transfers. If Hobbsless is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Analytics and cookies
We use a session cookie to keep you signed in and to protect the Service against cross-site request forgery. We may also use privacy-conscious analytics tools, such as Google Analytics or Meta Pixel, to understand aggregate usage of the Service; these tools are only enabled when configured and can be limited by your browser's cookie and tracking controls.
5. Data retention
We retain account, equipment, flight, and maintenance data for as long as your account is active, since that history is the core value of the logbook. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain records (for example, financial records related to payments) for legal or accounting purposes.
6. Your choices and rights
- You can review and update your account and profile information at any time from your account settings.
- You can export your equipment, flight, and service history as a report at any time.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us.
- Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, such as the right to access, correct, or delete it, or to object to certain processing.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in the "Contact us" section below.
7. Data security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption of passwords, rate limiting, and access controls on our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so while we work hard to protect your information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
8. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you by email or through the Service.
10. Contact us
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, contact us at hello@hobbsless.com or through our contact form.
